Founded in 1886 and opened in 1897, the links course designed by George Lowe - the club's first pro - and measuring 7,086 yards (6,479 m) from the Champions Tees, not far from the west coast of England, is the only regular venue for the British Open, starting with a par 3 (205 yards/187 m).
