The Waterside Hotel

Afternoon Tea - service was terrible, they brought out the food and then we had to wait 30 mins for the tea and prosecco, had to ask for it multiple times, in fairness they explained this was due to renovations happening in main resturant and the resturant was in the function suite. Food was below par, sandwiches wern't very good and cakes and scones were dry and possibly a few days old. Had a few afternoon teas over the years and this was my least favourite experience, very dissapointed as travelled a good distance for a nice afternoon, we didnt even want to order drinks as it didnt feel worthwhile staying any longer than needed.

The location of the hotel is beautiful, with amazing views of the Clyde and surrounding islands. The room was very comfortable and the whirlpool bath was extremely relaxing! We booked an evening meal at the hotel restaurant for that night. The food was absolutely delicious and our server Ava was so polite and friendly. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely book again.

Stumbled across this hidden gem looking for a new year break and it really exceeded our expectations. The staff were welcoming and couldn't do enough for you, especially Juliet and Maura who were on the whole of our stay. Rooms were luxurious and the sea view was amazing. NOW the food - oh my goodness. The kitchen done amazing with the amount of covers you could clearly see. The food was stunning, we never got a meal where there was something we didn't like but the sea food chowder. BEST I have ever had ( and I have had a LOT), the smokiness coming through the cream, the fish and potatoes all cooked to perfection. The Chef Robert, outstanding and so modest. Seriously this food, I cant find the words. Even though Robert was clearly so busy, he still went out his way for us. If not going for an overnight ( which you should) get booked for a meal !

Great rooms. Comfy bed. Decent modern TV. Tea, coffee, CARAMEL WAFERS! Great food. Fantastic service. Every interaction with staff was freindly and helpful...even getting a couple of plates for a cheeky late night JustEat delivery. Plenty parking...room to unload or load car at reception. Even a nice "new car scent" in the corridors on the journey to your room. Chef's kiss. 💋 👌

Stayed at this hotel in December 2025. The rooms are modern and spacious, with a good bed and a very nice bathroom - loved the bath. The food was generally very good. The burger was average, but the fish pie and the Scottish breakfast were excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly. I didn’t notice WiFi being available, and the sea views overlooked a caravan park, but that didn’t bother me as I was there for work and so I left in the AM where it was dark and got back in the PM, where it was dark.
