Introduction
As soon as you tee off at La Hacienda Links, it becomes clear that this golf course is a feast for the senses. The rides blend harmoniously into the gentle coastal landscape and always offer breathtaking views of the sparkling sea, the Strait of Gibraltar and the famous rock. The contrast between the lush green fairways and the deep blue sea is particularly impressive - a panorama that makes every round of golf here a unique experience.
Arrival at La Hacienda Golf
The welcome at La Hacienda Links is warm and makes guests feel at home immediately. The stylish clubhouse offers a great view of the practice facilities and the Mediterranean Sea from its terrace and invites you to relax and enjoy.
The friendly caddy master hands over the personalized buggy and is happy to show us the way to the tees and practice facilities. The driving range of La Hacienda Links is spacious and offers 72 tees, half of which are covered, so that you can train even in bad weather. The course has target greens at different distances, bunkers, a natural grass teeing area for large groups and separate areas for short play, including two chipping areas and two putting greens. The driving range is 300 meters long and offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, making training a special experience.
The golf course: game and landscape in perfection
The variety of holes is remarkable: Sometimes a narrow dogleg demands precise play, sometimes a wide fairway invites you to courageous drives. Each hole has its own story to tell, from windswept par-3 holes to spectacular coastal holes. A buggy is included in the round and makes it easier to play on the hilly course, which helps to relax.
The Signature Hole, which is located directly on the coast and offers fantastic views of the sea and Gibraltar, is particularly memorable. A fresh breeze often blows here, which influences the ball flight and makes each round unique. The tees are placed in such a way that they allow for fantastic views, while the manicured green and dense rough offer sporting challenges.
Architecture and awards
The original La Hacienda Links Golf Course was designed in 1992 by renowned golf architects Peter Alliss and Clive Clark. In 2021, a comprehensive and award-winning redesign was carried out by the American architect Kurtis Bowman. The new design is modern and sophisticated, which is underlined by the award as "Best Golf Course in Spain" at the World Golf Awards. The course is a classic 18-hole par-72 links course with a length of about 5,895 meters from the back tees. Despite the moderate length, the wind, which often blows on the coastal course, is the biggest challenge. The undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers and complex greens require precise and thoughtful play.
The course is considered to be athletically demanding and is a challenge for recreational golfers as well as experienced players. The difficulty is classified as medium to challenging, with wind and tactical elements playing a decisive role in particular. Angel Ayora has his home here and can occasionally be found on the square.
Half-time enjoyment: The halfway house
Another highlight is the extraordinary halfway house, which blends harmoniously into the landscape. After the first nine holes, it invites you to linger with a spacious terrace and wonderful sea views. Here you can unwind with fresh snacks and drinks, gaze out over the fairways and the water and recharge your batteries for the second part of the round. The ambience is relaxed and stylish – a perfect place to exchange ideas with fellow players or simply enjoy the peace and quiet. Anyone who takes a break here will feel the special atmosphere of hospitality and enjoyment. This also applies to the clubhouse, which invites you to further culinary highlights after the round.
Conclusion
La Hacienda Links is much more than just a golf course – it's an experience for all the senses. The combination of scenic beauty, varied design, sporting challenge and culinary delights makes every round an unforgettable day. If you love golf and nature, you will take this course to your heart.
