The approximately 65-kilometre-long side valley of the Inn Valley stretches south to the main Alpine ridge. Golf clubs have been established in Ötztal for a long time. Fans of this great sport with the small ball will find three golf courses in Ötztal: the Passeier Golf Club in Meran, the Mieminger Plateau Golf Club and the Seefeld Golf Club. All three clubs offer perfectly maintained 18-hole courses with a unique ambience and views of the Alps. "Ötzi" is world-famous

The Ötztal has been inhabited for thousands of years. Impressive proof of this was provided by the discovery of the iceman "Ötzi" in 1991, when German tourists accidentally found the mummified body of an early hunter at an altitude of 3,200 m in the ice of the Similaun glacier. "Ötzi" made the Ötztal Alps famous worldwide. While in earlier centuries life in the remote valley was determined by the meagre lifestyle of the mountain farmers, today tourism plays an extremely important role. The region was initially discovered for winter sports, with several hundred kilometers of groomed slopes, around 60 ski lifts and around 150 kilometers of extremely attractive cross-country ski trails available to guests. But summer in Ötztal also has all the prerequisites for a successful vacation. Surrounded by more than 250 three-thousand-metre peaks, the enchanting valley offers countless hiking routes, some of which lead right up to the eternal ice of the glaciers, inviting you to discover the area step by step. Cycle paths are available, and mountain bikers in particular can enjoy unique tours. Climbing gardens and via ferratas await guests, although full via ferrata equipment is essential for safety reasons. The region is just as inviting for canyoning in rushing mountain streams between rock faces as it is for paragliding.

Every season has its own flair

The Ötztal is always in season. The ideal time to visit depends on the wishes and expectations of the visitors. Winter sports enthusiasts will find snow-sure terrain, in spring the mountain meadows enchant with their blooming splendour, summer entices with hours of sunshine and autumn in its colorful dress is particularly attractive for hikers. Thanks to its sheltered location, the Ötztal has a particularly mild climate, with maximum temperatures averaging around 22 degrees Celsius in July and August.

Accessibility of the Ötztal

The Ötztal can be reached by car from Innsbruck via the A 12 Inntalautobahn highway. There is a separate exit for the Ötztal, you can follow the Ötztalstraße 186, which runs through the entire length of the valley and finally offers an incomparable panoramic route over the main Alpine ridge all the way to Italy. However, the Ötztal is also connected to the railroad network via the Arlbergbahn, and buses run from the Ötztal train station. The Ötztal can be reached by long-distance bus from Innsbruck. In winter there is a special ski bus service. A vacation in the Ötztal promises not only rest and relaxation, but also culinary delights.
