Winter stay at SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort: Style, service and honest impressions
We recently spent one night at the SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort – a resort known for its exceptional design, first-class service and diverse leisure options. From the moment we entered, we could feel the special atmosphere: modern interior design meets Andalusian charm, with carefully curated details everywhere (for example, the “washbasin” in the reception pavilion – a large clay jug) and an ambience that makes you feel at home.
Friendliness and service
The staff at SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort impressed us. From reception to the restaurant, we were always treated in a friendly and attentive manner. The team were considerate, helpful and managed to create a relaxed yet professional feel-good atmosphere – a real plus point for the hotel.
Our room
Our room, designed like a small terraced house, stood out with its stylish décor and warm, welcoming atmosphere. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and ensured a restful night’s sleep. A particular highlight was the spacious bathroom, equipped with both a modern shower and an elegant bathtub – perfect for moments of relaxation.
Pools and fitness: seasonal limitations
One important note for winter guests: the outdoor pools were closed during our stay. Unfortunately, we were also unable to use the indoor pool, as it was out of service due to maintenance work. This was a pity, but the gym turned out to be a real positive surprise. The facilities are excellent, especially for golfers and fitness enthusiasts. Modern equipment, plenty of space and a pleasant atmosphere made working out a real pleasure. We did not use the rest of the spa area.
Culinary highlights: SoCiety Club and breakfast
When it comes to food, the hotel has a lot to offer with its various restaurants. We chose to have dinner at the SoCiety Club, as we were hungry after our journey and did not want to wait for the other restaurants to open. From past visits, however, we can say that Cortijo Santa Maria in particular is a culinary highlight. Fresh ingredients, creative dishes and attentive service make for a very special dining experience.
Breakfast also deserves a special mention – it was included in our room rate, but there was no buffet. Instead, we could choose from a varied menu and had our dishes freshly prepared and served. This made a relaxed start to the day and was a pleasant change from the classic hotel buffet.
Our conclusion
SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort is an exclusive winter retreat with plenty of comfort, great service and culinary highlights. Anyone who values design, friendly staff and high-quality fitness facilities will be very happy here. The seasonal limitations regarding the pools are something to keep in mind when planning. For us, the hotel remains a clear recommendation – and we would love to come back, perhaps next time in late summer.
The SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort includes two golf courses, which we also had the opportunity to play.
